A Cheerful Giver

Two weeks ago the kids in KIDS ROCK learned about being cheerful givers. One of the verses referenced was 2 Corinthians 9:7. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

What exactly does “cheerful” mean? According to Webster’s dictionary cheerful means “pleasant, ungrudging”. So, we are instructed to give in a pleasant, ungrudging way, not because we feel we have to, or reluctantly.

In light of the above, KIDS ROCK has decided to ask the kids to give cheerfully unto the Lord, in a way that will help Kids Against Hunger (KAH). KAH that will be coming to Rock Point this summer for KIDS ROCK LOVE week. KAH and our kids will be putting together food packets for those who don’t always get meals and proper nutrition, both internationally and domestically (KAH serves right here in Crawfordsville). One way in which KIDS ROCK will be serving KAH is by making a donation to pay for postage on the boxes that are shipped around the world.

Where do you and your child fit in? KIDS ROCK is challenging the kids to earn their own money and then to pray about giving a portion of that money to help with this cause. We want them to give their money with a cheerful heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion (2 Cor. 9:7). We will be charting our progress weekly until LOVE week and to see if we can reach our goal of $150.

Christ Connection:  Paul thanked God for the most wonderful gift of all. God has been merciful and generous to us. He gave us the greatest gift-His own Son. Jesus showed us what generosity looks like when He gave up His life to save us from sin. God is generous to us, so we can be generous to others.
