Patty's Pointers

Fine Motor Activity for Preschoolers

Strengthen those little fingers and build stamina for correct pencil grip by doing finger exercises! Tap thumb and fingers together one at a time then squeeze a cotton ball or pompom between thumb and finger and count to 5. Wiggle fingers and repeat. In a quick moment you have helped fine motor skills and practiced counting!

Literacy Activity for Early Elementary

Using sidewalk chalk have your child write an alphabet line. Call out a letter name, or letter sound and have your child run to the correct letter.  Spelling words can even be practiced like this! Run from letter to letter spelling out the word. With this simple fun activity they have practiced handwriting, letter recognition, letter sounds, and spelling!
