As parents we have all experienced our children getting out of bed afraid, coming home from school upset, or getting ditched by a friend. Sometimes it is really hard to know what to say, how to handle the situation, or where to show our kids what God has to say about our challenges.
Patty and I were fortunate to be able to attend the ETCH Family Conference over fall break in Nashville, Tennessee. The theme for the conference was NOTHING LESS, based on A. W. Tozer’s quote: “Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian".
As I ponder the above quote I ask myself why I didn’t go to the Word more often when my kids had challenges in their lives. The God who created the world and all it’s glory supplied all of us with a self-help book, both for ourselves and our little guys and gals. What an incredibly loving Father he is!
Below are some verses that could be used when these times of “trouble” come our way. We can encourage our children to memorize these verses and hide them in their hearts to use now and in the many years to come. What a wonderful gift to give to our sons and daughters (and then our grandsons and granddaughters).
Afraid: Psalm 34:4 | Isaiah 41:10 | Hebrews 13:6 |
Discouraged: Joshua 1:9 | Proverbs 3:5-6 | Nahum 1:7 |
Worried: Matthew 6:33-34 | Philippians 4:6-7 | 1 Peter 5:7 |
Lonely: Deuteronomy 31:6 | Matthew 28:20 | Hebrews 13:5 |
Praying God richly blesses you and your family thru these verses and that the trials of life are lessened by His powerful Word.
